Sagittarius – First attempt!

Finally I got some good weather in Joinville to shoot Sagittarius. Although the moon was 47% illuminated, I’ve been able to do around 80 frames before the fog ruined the sky.

I’m pretty happy with the results. You know, Sagittarius is an “easy target”, but I mean… the framing I got here is right what I was intending.

The Lagoon Nebula ( Messier 8, NGC 6523 ) is right in the center, and makes me scream with the anxiety to put my hands on my new CEM25P, that not arrived yet. I really do want to shoot this target with longer focal length!

Well, enough with silly talking. Here is the setup:

Nikon D5000
Nikon Af-s Nikkor 50mm F/1.8g
Old low cost EQ5 (R.A. clock drive)

ISO 800
50mm, f2.8

DeepSkyStacker and Photoshop CS8.
I also used a plugin called Hasta la vista, Green, from Deep Sky Colors to remove the green noise.
